지금, 현실에서의 하나님, 성경의 하나님 (God in the Now, God in Reality, God of the Bible)

 현실속에서 나를 보니 그리고 내 삶 속에서 행하신 하나님의 흔적을 더듬으려니 희미하고 불확실한 것처럼 느껴진다. 그런 하나님을 믿으려니 신앙이란 것이 캄캄한 동굴에서 등불 하나를 들고 있는 것처럼 되어버린다. 그러나 신앙은 그런 것이 아니다.

 나의 하나님이 아닌 성경의 하나님을 생각해야 한다. 나의 하나님에 집중하니 내 모습, 내 죄에 가려 진짜 하나님을 보지 못한다. 성경의 하나님은 어떠한가 나의 이해와 논리로 가릴 수 없다.

그분은 밝히 드러내셨다. 창조, 구속을 머나먼 옛 일로 치부하는 순간 그때부터 성경의 하나님이 아닌 지금의 하나님, 내 삶에서의 하나님을 찾게 된다. 구속은 옛 일이 아니다. 그 큰 일은 하나님의 영광을 위한 것이었으며 나의 생명을 위한 일이었고 지금도 진행중이며 훗날 영광스러움으로 완성될 것이다.

 동굴과 같은 현재와 현실속에서 등불 하나로 그림자만을 바라보지 말고 눈을 들어 빛 되신 하나님을 바라보자. 그것이 신앙이 아닐까

When I look at myself in the flesh and try to trace God's actions in my life, they seem faint and uncertain. When I try to believe in such a God, faith becomes like holding a lantern in a dark cave. But faith is not like that.

 I need to think of the God of the Bible, not my God. When I focus on my own God, I lose sight of the real God in my own image, in my own sin. What the God of the Bible is like cannot be hidden by my understanding and logic.

He is revealed. The moment I relegate creation and redemption to the distant past, I begin to look for the God of the present, the God of my life, not the God of the Bible. Redemption is not a thing of the past; the great work was for the glory of God and for my life, and it is ongoing and will be completed in glory in the future.

 In the cave like present and reality, let us not look at the shadows with a single lamp, but lift up our eyes and see God who is the light. Isn't that faith?
